Networking
There
are two types of networking: 1. Hard Wire - (CAT5 Cable) and 2. Wireless each
subdivided into different setups. Lets look at them!
Hardwire, in the IT industry is
referred to as Ethernet and usually requires a router if connecting to the Internet and a switch for you internal Intranet (internal) and a cabling scheme which
usually involves Cat5 cable.

Your
computer connects to jacks on you wall which connect to ports on what is
called a Patch Panel, the patch panel is connected to your switch, which is receiving
a connection from the outside world (The Internet) via a router, depending
upon available ports you can add other computer and devices (printers,
Scanners etc…) to your network. |

Wireless can be as simple as connecting an internal router
to your existing ISP connection to which several workstations can access both
the internet and your intranet, or as complex as adding access points to your
network, for the same effect. Above is a diagram of
a basic wireless network |
Other
